We are looking for an experienced Information Security Officer, with a genuine passion for and interest in the role, to join a recently established and growing team within an ethical, flexible and friendly organisation based in Leeds City Centre. Reporting to the Group Data Governance Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity to help to protect the organisation’s complex and sensitive information and data – both proactively and reactively


The Information Security Officer Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team of PMs within the IT department of a committed and forward-thinking organisation

  • You’ll be responsible for spotting the information and data security holes in design and tender documentation, and working with teams to resolve any issues
  • You will work graciously and as a partner with technical designers to find solutions to security flaws, rather than adopt an absolute ‘compliance says no’ attitude to their design proposals
  • You’ll respond and manage any emerging information security incidents, dealing with them appropriately and compliantly
  • You’ll be an ambassador for the Data Governance team throughout the organisation,
  • You’ll be continually seeking improvement to the information security framework, learning from incidents, and adopting working practices to anticipate future flaws, seeking to help the business to understand the value you bring, rather than see you as an obstacle to avoid
  • · You need to be dynamic, articulate and driven, and just as comfortable in front of a Board Director as an end user or technical team member

Essential skills

  • You will already be in a similar role within an ISO27001 accredited organisation
  • You will have a strong security focus and be able to spot, highlight and propose resolutions to flaws and security issues in proposals and design documentation
  • A genuine passion for Information Security
  • Dynamic, articulate and driven personality, with the ability to collaborate, negotiate, influence and get buy-in
  • Able to work with third party suppliers and internal teams
  • Experience in the financial sector would be a massive bonus
  • Background in networks and infrastructure would be helpful
  • CISM/CISMP highly desirable
  • You must be a team player
